On November 4, 2009, the owner applied the product to the cat. A carpet and upholstery spray was also used in the home, but the cat has no known exposure to the product.

On November 7, 2009, the owner took the cat to an emergency veterinarian. The cat's signs continued, and the cat died at home on November 11, 2009. The APSS veterinarian stated that when the product is used per label instructions, serious signs are not expected. The APSS veterinarian recommended a necropsy and to have the veterinarian call for information.

The APSS veterinarian stated that the substance was considered to have a doubtful likelihood of causing the clinical situation. On November 17, 2009, an APSS technician contacted the owner to discuss the case. She left a voicemail for the owner stating we had not heard from the veterinarian and at this point, necropsy would not be an option as the body was no longer viable.
