(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
The APSS veterinarian stated that no major problems would be expected with this exposure. Some products can have a bitter or otherwise bad taste which will cause cats to hypersalivate. It is not a toxic reaction and is usually controlled by giving something to get the bad taste out of the pet's mouth. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the pet owner bathe the cat with liquid dish soap, offer tuna juice or milk to dilute the product in the mouth, call back with any questions, and take the cat to the veterinarian if the hind limb paresis persists after bathing the cat. The pet owner called with an update shortly after midnight on August 27, 2009 and stated that he had bathed the cat and offered tuna juice. The cat was no longer hypersalivating and was using her hind limbs normally. The owner stated that he was concerned the cat was cold after her bath, so the APSS technician suggested that he wrap the cat in towels fresh from the clothes drier to warm her up and dry her off.
Moderate
On September 2, 2009 an APSS technician spoke to the pet owner and the owner stated that the cat made a full recovery.
