The APSS technician stated that some animals experience a dermal reaction to this product, but that serious signs were not expected. The APSS technician recommended that the pet owner treat the home for fleas and bathe the cat with flea shampoo to kill the adult fleas on the cat. She also recommended that the owner monitor the cat at home and call back with any questions. On August 14, 2009 the owner contacted the APSS to report that the cat's tongue and the roof of his mouth was white. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the pet owner take the cat to the veterinarian, have the veterinarian call for information, and call back with questions.

The APSS veterinarian stated that the substance was considered to have a doubtful likelihood of causing the clinical situation. On August 14, 2009 an APSS assistant spoke to the pet owner. The pet owner stated that he took the cat to the veterinarian on August 13, 2009. The veterinarian applied a different flea product to the cat and dispensed a dewormer. Bloodwork was done, due to the veterinarian's suspicion that the cat had flea bite anemia, and the results were pending.
