On July 16, 2009, the dog's pre-existing pruritis worsened. On July 27, 2009, the pet owner noticed scabs on the dog's skin. The APSS veterinarian stated that dermal or allergic reactions may occur with any topical agent but that these problems are rarely seen with shampoos. She recommended that the owner discuss other flea preventatives with his veterinarian, take the dog to the veterinarian to have the skin examined, and call back with any questions.

On July 29, 2009, the pet owner contacted the APSS. The pet owner stated that he took the dog to his veterinarian. A follow up was not performed, because because signs were not likely related to the use of the product.
