1-20715199: A reporter (cat owner) called on 11/12/2009 to report the exposure of her cat to a flea and tick collar containing the active ingredient Tetrachlorvinphos. According to the reporter, the collar was placed on the cat on 11/09/2009. Within 24 hours, the cat developed salivation, diarrhea, convulsions, and hair loss at the site of collar application. The cat was not taken to the veterinarian and died at home 1 hour prior to the report. The reporter was advised that the signs are not expected with routine use of the product. The reporter was also advised that whenever an animal is having significant clinical signs as described, veterinary evaluation is recommended. A recommendation was made to consider necropsy to determine the cause of death. No further information was obtained.
