On August 28, 2009 the pet owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian stated that other causes of death should be investigated such as cardiovascular disease, central nervous system disease, or liver shunts. She recommended a necropsy to establish a cause of death, but the body was no longer available.
