1-20192193: A reporter (cat owner) called on 09/24/2009 to report the possible exposure of a cat to an insecticide containing the active ingredient Permethrin. According to the reporter, the product had been applied to the inside of the home a few weeks prior to the report. The cat was never witnessed having exposure to the product, but it developed seizures a few days following product application. The cat was evaluated by a veterinarian and diagnosed with a seizure disorder. The cat was treated with an unknown medication, and the seizures had resolved by the time of the report. The reporter was advised that small ingestions of wet product are not expected to result in significant adverse effects. Minor gastrointestinal irritation may result from small ingestions of the product. Massive amounts of product would need to be consumed in order to result in neurologic signs. A recommendation was made to continue the treatment prescribed by the veterinarian. No further information was obtained.
