1-19163048: A reporter (cat owner) called on 07/14/2009 to report the exposure of her cat to a flea and tick product containing the active ingredients Phenothrin and Methoprene. According to the reporter, the product was recently purchased from a retail store and was applied to the cat on 07/13/2009. On the morning of the report, the cat became lethargic and died. The reporter was advised that this product had been discontinued and not sold or distributed after 12/31/2005 due to concerns about safety in cats. The reporter was advised that it should not have been on store shelves for purchase. The reporter was provided information regarding necropsy to try and determine the cause of death. The reporter declined pursuing necropsy. No further information was obtained.
