(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms

On August 30, 2009 the dog began breathing heavily. The pet owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) later that same evening. The APSS veterinarian stated that she was concerned that the heavy breathing was due to the underlying heart condition as the dog had a grade five heart murmur; however, it could also be due to stress from the application process or inhalation of the product aggravating an underlying respiratory condition. She recommended that the pet owner bathe the dog with liquid dish soap if the dog does not become stressed, monitor respiratory signs closely, call with questions, and take the dog to the veterinarian if signs persist or worsen.
