(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
1-18890807: A reporter (cat owner) called on 06/19/2009 to report the accidental exposure of 2 cats to a canine flea and tick product containing the active ingredient Phenothrin. According to the reporter, the product was applied to both cats on 06/18/2009. On 06/19/2009, Cat #1 (1st Subform III) was lethargic, not eating, and not acting like himself. The reporter was advised that the use of canine products on cats can cause severe problems including hypersalivation, vomiting, drooling, muscle tremors, and hyperexcitability or depression. A recommendation was made to bathe the cat in a non-insecticidal shampoo and then have the cat evaluated by a veterinarian. A recommendation was also made to have the cat immediately evaluated by a veterinarian should it develop seizures. On follow up, the reporter stated that both cats were bathed well after the initial report. Cat #1's signs resolved shortly after bathing and did not require veterinary evaluation. Cat #2 never developed any signs. No further information was obtained. NOTE: The canine product is not labeled for use on cats.
