On June 11, 2009, the owner noticed that her cat was moderately lethargic, breathing heavily, and dyspneic. She bathed the cat twice. After the bath, the cat was mildly lethargic, but the dyspnea and heavy breathing continued. On June 12, 2009, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS technician recommended that the owner take the cat to the veterinarian and have the veterinarian call for information.

On June 19, 2009, the APSS assistant spoke to the pet owner. The pet owner stated that the cat died before getting to the veterinarian. The APSS assistant recommended necropsy, but the owner declined because the body was not available.

On June 19, 2009, the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) assistant spoke to the pet owner and learned that there were 4 other cats in the household that had been exposed to the product. On June 11, 2009, the owner noticed that the cats were moderately lethargic, breathing heavily, and dyspneic. On June 12, 2009, the cats died.
