1-17265972: A reporter called on 01/12/2009 to report the exposure of her cat to a flea and tick dip containing the active ingredients Pyrethrins, Piperonyl Butoxide, and NOBD. According to the reporter, the product was diluted according to label directions on 12/25/2008. The cat was dipped quickly in the diluted product avoiding contact with her eyes and mouth. The cat was towel dried after dipping. Within one hour following product application, the cat developed persistent seizures. The reporter attempted to bring her cat to an emergency veterinary clinic, but the veterinarian told her the prognosis for survival was poor. It is unclear whether the cat was ever examined by the veterinarian or if any treatment was provided. The reporter did try bathing the cat with a dish soap at some point, but the seizures persisted. The cat died later the night of 12/25/2008. The reporter was advised that the signs described are not expected with labeled use of the product. No further information was obtained.
