1-16801073: A reporter called on 10/30/2008 to report the exposure of some fish to an insecticide containing the active ingredient Permethrin. According to the reporter, the product was sprayed into a plastic trough on an unknown date near a pond where the fish were kept. Ten koi died on 10/28/2008 (1st Subform III). The signs preceding death are unknown. The reporter then cleaned the pond with Dawn dish soap and refilled it with water. He bought some guppies and put them in the pond after cleaning and refilling it. The guppies also died (date of deaths unknown; 2nd Subform III). The reporter wanted to know how to clean the pond out. The reporter was advised that the active ingredient in the product is very toxic to aquatic organisms. The reporter was also advised that the product may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment. A recommendation was made for the reporter to contact the consumer services department for complete information regarding cleaning the pond. No further information was obtained.
