1-16412179: The reporter called on 7/17/08 to report the application of a topical flea and tick product containing the active ingredient Methoprene to her female cat. According to the reporter, the product had been applied 4.5 hours previously. The reporter had then left the house. Upon her return, the reporter noticed the cat breathing heavily and acting agitated. The reporter had then bathed the cat in Selsun Blue shampoo and the cat had seemed to improve. The caller inquired about and was given information regarding the safety profile of the product. A recommendation was made to re-bath the cat in a hand dish washing detergent, and to seek veterinary care if the symptoms persisted. A follow-up call on 7/22 revealed the cat had had 2 ¿¿¿bad days¿¿¿ and had been bathed 3 times with dish soap. By the time of the follow-up call the cat was much improved but had developed hair loss at the application site.
