Owner used the product in their house about a week ago. Yesterday Emma the cat started being lethargic, anorexic, and having abdominal pain. Emma is at the clinic now and the DVM is calling to rule out the agent. Because the amount was unknown consistent, the patient was considered to be at low risk of developing clinical signs. If signs develop, there is low risk that those signs will be life-threatening. It was explained to the vet that silica in mammals is not typically a problem. Since it is biologically and chemically inert and systemic toxicity is not expected.
