1-16500553: The reporter called on 8/8/2008 to report the exposure of his cat to a topical flea product containing the active ingredient Methoprene. According to the reporter, he applied the product to his cat on 8/6/2008. Within minutes of application, the cat exhibited agitated behavior. The reporter bathed the cat in baby shampoo and water. On 8/8/2008 the reporter noticed that the cat had a ¿¿¿burn¿¿¿ on its skin and hairloss at the application site. The safety profile of the product was discussed including the fact that this would not be an expected result of product use. A recommendation was made to bathe the cat in a non-insecticidal shampoo and water for 10 to 15 minutes. Additionally, it was recommended that if the symptoms persisted or worsened during the following 24 hours, to seek Veterinary care. Follow-up attempt was unsuccessful, no further information was provided.
