1-16536943: This reporter called on 08/17/2008 to report the exposure of a cat (unknown age) to a flea egg and larvae topical product containing the active ingredient Methoprene on 08/17/2008. Within 60 minutes of product application, the cat developed redness, dermal irritation, hair loss and an open sore. This was the first time a product like this had been used on the cat. The caller was advised that the cat may have an individual sensitivity to the ingredients in the product, and a recommendation was made to bathe the cat with a non-medicated pet shampoo or hand dishsoap. The caller was advised to take the cat to a veterinarian for evaluation. An attempt at follow up was unsuccessful and no further information was obtained.
