1-16450915: The reporter, a veterinarian, called on 7/26/2008 to report that a dog had become ill after possible exposure to an insecticide product containing the active ingredient Permethrin. According to the reporter, the dog had gotten into a bag of garbage that had been sprayed with the product. The reporter stated that within two days of exposure, the dog experienced severe bloody diarrhea and vomiting. At the time of the report, the dog was at the animal hospital receiving IV fluids. The Veterinarian thought the dog¿s symptoms might be due to exposure to the product. The safety profile of the product was discussed including the fact that, at most, GI symptoms might be seen with product exposure. A recommendation was made regarding the need for fluid management to help maintain hydration. A follow-up call was placed, but never returned.
