1-16076639: The reporter called on 4/28/08 to report she had used a couple drops of a topical flea and tick product on her cat the evening of 4/26/08. The product was designed for dogs and contained the active ingredients Methoprene and Permethrin. The cat, a 6 year old male, had begun acting strange the next morning (4/27). He had urinated outside the litter box, had begun babying one side of his head, and had wanted to go outside a lot. The night of 4/27, the reporter had applied some no rinse shampoo and had brushed the cat. She planned to bring the cat into see a veterinarian the day of the call (4/28). The recommendation was made to bathe the cat and take the cat to the veterinarian as planned. The reporter was also cautioned to avoid using dog products on cats. A follow-up call on 5/1 revealed the cat had been bathed, it had been evaluated by a veterinarian, and its symptoms lasted about 5-6 days. Per the reporter, no treatments had been done at the veterinarian as the cat was perceived as healthy.
