DVM is calling because owner is certain that cat died as a result of use of product. DVM reports that the product did not cause the death of the cat. Per DVM, owner's cats live in a barn which was treated with an unknown flea and tick product. Cat died 3-4 days following application of Advantage. DVM states that cat was in poor health at the time of treatment; cat was underweight and flea-infested. DVM reports that client split a tube of Advantage 18 between these two cats.

Discussed topical action of product and wide margin of product safety. We would not expect to see death following use of this product, even if exceeding recommended dose several times over. DVM reiterates that this product did not cause the death of this cat. DVM reiterates that the call was made to VTS to report case at the insistence of cat's owner.
