1-16252761: The reporter, a pest control officer, informed the registrant on 6/9/08 that 3 head of cattle had passed away after eating weeds/grass that had been treated with a product containing the active ingredient 2,4,D. The product, along with a non-company product (Round-up), had been diluted and applied to a 5 by 10 meter area around an oil facility (piping) on 6/6/08. The oil facility had a gate/fence around it to prevent cattle from disturbing the piping. However, an unknown amount of cattle had been able to stick their heads thru the fence and had grazed on the treated grass/weeds. The next day (6/7) the owner of the cattle had found 3 head had suddenly died. According to the reporter, the cattle had been sent to a local veterinarian for necropsy and results are pending. The safety profile of the product, including pre-harvest and re-entry intervals, was discussed with the reporter.
