On Jan 7, 2008 the owner bathed the cat, more than nine hours after exposure. APSS advised she take the cat to an emergency clinic and have the attending veterinarian contact APSS for further recommendations. The cat was hospitalized on Jan 7, 2008 where it received fluid therapy, symptomatic and supportive care, as well as seizure management. The cat died on January 9, 2008.
