1-15753853: The reporter called on 2/4/08 to report that a 4 year old female cat had been exposed on 2/3/08 to a product intended for use on dogs which contained the active ingredient 45%Permethrin. The reporter, a staff member at a veterinary clinic, stated the cat was lethargic and had muscle tremors. Information about the active ingredient and treatment advice were given. Treatment recommendations included decontamination with 2-3 thorough baths to remove all product, plus symptomatic and supportive care for neurological symptoms including but not limited to Valium and Methocarbamol as needed. On follow-up the next day (2/5/08), the veterinary clinic noted the cat had improved after 2-3 baths and IV fluids and intended to discharge the cat either that evening or the following day.
