On November 16, 2007 the owner took the animal to a local veterinary clinic where she received symptomatic and supportive care and had a diagnostic evaluation. The animal was diagnosed with renal failure and pneumonia by the attending veterinarian. On November 18, 2007 the animal died. The APSS staff member stated that serious signs would not be expected to develop with this product.

Inappropriate use - Product dosage indicates for use on dogs over 60 lbs. Weight of dog was 15 lbs. The APSS veterinarian doubted that this substance was related to the clinical situation. The APSS staff member suggested that a necropsy be performed on the animal. It is unknown whether or not the owner elected to have the animal's body submitted for a necropsy.
