Per the pet owner, the Advantage 18 was applied per package instruction Aug 1 2007 in the evening. The owner returned home from work Aug 2 and found the cat trembling and hiding in the basement. The cat was admitted to (name) Animal Hospital for a few hours of observation. Preliminary bloodwork was normal. The cat was eating and (name) was normal. SQ fluids were given and a small amount of valium in attempts to reduce the tremors. Presentation was characteristic of a permethrin toxicity although the owner is adamant that no exposure occured. This cat had received Advantage before without concern and other cats treated at the same time were not affected.
