(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
6/14/2007 8:14:48 PMThe caller stated that her dog ingested 1 block of product 4-5 day ago. This dog is geriatric. The dog is currently hospitalized with tachycardia, lethargy and tachypnea. The dog was hospitalized and received 3 blood transfusions along with Vit K1 treatment. The caller did not know the liver function status of the dog. I agree with hospitalization due to severity of symptoms. Typically, 1 block of this particular product would not be expected to cause toxicity. However, the dog¿¿¿s age puts this dog at more of a risk. The dog was ultimately euthanized because his symptoms were not improving. The dog¿¿¿s final diagnosis was long-acting anticoagulant toxicity.
