Consumer called to report that she suspects her cat may have been poisoned by pesticide. The history of exposure is unclear although it is suspected that cat walked across treated lawn then licked her paws. The product was used on lawn sometime on 5/19. Cat was allowed back on the lawn an unspecified period of time later. On 5/20, the cat became ill with unspecified symptoms. A veterinary technician called on 5/21/2007 to report that cat presented lethargic with unresponsive pupils and bradycardia on 5/20. Owner had reported that product was sprayed onto her lawn about 24 hrs prior to any exposure. They had also brought the label with them as well. The animal owner elected to euthanize the animal at that time as she apparently could not afford any formal diagnostic evaluation or treatment. No exam was apparently done and no lab work was done to investigate the etiology of the animals illness. The veterinarian who treated the cat related that the cat's appearance suggested "head trauma" and she was of the opinion that the cat was likely a "stray that wandered into the yard and had the kittens" - though owner did not report this specifically. The specialist at the PPC did not provide their name when she called them to discuss the case. The decision to euthanize the animal was based on a combination of factors that included an inability to afford evaluation/care.
