On May 10, 2007 at 5:00 A.M. CDT, the owner noticed the cat was ataxic and was having full body tremors. The owner had accidentally applied the dog product to the cat the night before. At the time of the call, the veterinary clinic was not open and would not open for another hour, so the APSS veterinarian instructed the owner to wash the cat with liquid dish washing detergent to remove the product from the cat and then take it to the cat's veterinarian, when the clinic opened.
