On 09 Mar 2022, an owner reported that her dog (7 year old, weight unknown, male, neutered St. Bernard) developed lymphoma and died due to wearing the Activyl Protector Band (Deltamethrin 4%) starting approximately Jun 2021. In the middle of Jul 2021 the dog had gastrointestinal upset and thrombocytopenia. The dog was treated with prednisone. At some point the owner took the collar off when he was showing signs and when the dog improved it was put back on the dog, then removed again when he began showing symptoms again (Oct 2021). In Oct 2021, the dog had a colon mass that was diagnosed as lymphoma and he died in Oct 2021. This conflicts with what the veterinarian reported on 11 Mar 2022. The dog was having trouble on walks (coughing and hacking once in a while so they stopped using the collar (start date not known). A mass was noticed on the left shoulder about mid August 2021 (circular and soft, but seemed to grow quickly by the end of Sep 2021 and there was no limp associated with mass). On 27 Nov 2021, the owner reported to clinic that the dog's respiratory rate was elevated (60 per minute) and he had a fever of 103.9. Dog was taken to referring veterinarian who recommended starting prednisone, Benadryl and famotidine. The mass shrunk about 1 inch while on prednisone. On 02 Dec 2021, an abdominal ultrasound showed a very large spleen and radiographs showed a mediastinal mass. A fine needle aspirate of the shoulder and spleen confirmed lymphoma. Owner stopped all meds on 06 Dec 2021. A necropsy was not done. It is the vet's opinion that it is unlikely that the Activyl products caused lymphoma. The owner also applied Activyl Tick Plus for Dogs and Puppies (over 88 lb and up to 132 lb) from approximately 2018 to May 2021.

The owner applied Activyl Tick Plus for Dogs and Puppies (over 88 lb and up to 132 lb) (size of product not reported, but estimated extra-large dog dose for a St. Bernard) from approximately 2018 to May 2021. Another product was used Activyl Protector Band (Deltamethrin 4%) starting approximately Jun 2021. The owner did not report any adverse reaction to the Activyl Tick Plus, she suspects the Activyl Protector Band caused the lymphoma.
