10/11/2017 4:21:52 PM A veterinarian reported they were currently treating a dog for possible bromethalin toxicity. The pet owner reported to the veterinarian that on October 6, 2017 they found a shredded packet of Tomcat with Bromethalin Place Pacs. No specific ingestion was witnessed. The veterinarian reported that the dog was currently lethargic, painful, vomited a few times, was anorexic and did not want to move. It was not specified when these signs began. Laboratory testing was largely normal except thrombocytopenia. The dog was also test for the presence of heartworms, Ehrlichia, and Lyme disease, all of which were negative. Radiographs were performed, and no abnormalities were seen. On October 13, 2017 a veterinary technician from the treating clinic called to report that they could not determine any other cause for the dogs thrombocytopenia. The pet owner reported to the clinic that the dog died at home the morning of October 13, 2017. No other diagnostic tests or specific treatments were reported.
