Within thirty minutes of applying the spray on October 12, 2017, the cat developed paw shaking. The owner then bathed the cat with hand soup. Shortly after the bath, the cat developed lethargy and strabismus. Later in the evening, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian stated that the risk is for gastrointestinal (GI) upset if ingested and lethargy if applied heavily. The APSS veterinarian also stated that there is a concern for central nervous system (CNS) depression due to the isopropanol in the product. The APSS technician recommended the owner take the cat to a veterinarian, bathe the cat (with liquid dish washing detergent (LDWD)), have the veterinarian call for information, and to call back with questions.
