On approximately 01-Apr-2017, an approximately 20 pound, male, canine, of unknown signalment and condition, with no known concomitant medical conditions, was administered 1 tube of Advantage II Large Dog (Imidacloprid-Pyriproxyfen) topically by the owner.
On approximately 15-Apr-2017, the dog died due to unknown circumstances. No necropsy was performed.
Due to the sensitive nature of the communication, specific relevant event details were not obtained, nor will such be sought. The reason for the initial call was to discuss the use of Seresto and Advantage II in the owner's new puppy and not to report the death of the patient.
No further information is expected. This case is closed.

Classification selon la gravité (s'il y a plus d'une catégorie possible, veuillez choisir la plus grave)
Mort
19. Donner des renseignements additionnels ici
N - Unlikely
Reported death is inconsistent with pharmaco-toxicological product profile and experience. Product has wide margin of safety. Oral LD50 in rat is 642 mg/kg BW. 24-fold overdosage tolerated by dogs without showing any side effect. No signs of allergic/anaphylactic reaction reported. In case of suspected product involvement, adverse event would have been reported in close proximity and not long time after. Other unrelated causes are more probable. Moreover, the reason for the initial call was to discuss the use of other products in the owner's new puppy and not to report the death of the patient. Finally, considering long time to onset and known safety profile of product, a product involvement is considered to be unlikely.
