1-46375060 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated his dog may have been exposed to a rodenticide containing the active ingredient diphacinone (present in free form or as sodium salt). Approximately one week before the day of initial contact with the registrant, the reporter saw his 40-pound, male dog of unknown age or breed with a package of the product in his mouth. The reporter did not take the package away from the dog, but later found the empty package in his yard. Two days before the day of initial contact, the dog started vomiting and became anorectic. On the day of initial contact, the reporter was advised to get immediate medical attention for the dog as he may be critically ill. On follow-up call two days later, the reporter indicated he was unable to get veterinary care for the dog who died one day after initial contact. The reporter noted that he found black-colored stool in the yard. No additional information is available.
