1-42084750 - The reporter, a veterinarian, indicated that five cows were exposed to an herbicide containing the active ingredient atrazine. One day prior to initial contact, most likely in the early morning, the cows found a bag of the product, ripped it open and ingested half of the bag. Later that morning all five cows developed symptoms of trembling and ataxia. The reporter visited the cows that night for the first time and during her exam noted there was white powder around their muzzles and all the cows were still trembling and ataxic. One of the five cows, a 2 year old, 1200 pound, female, (Subform III #1) also seemed blind; she had no menace response. This cow died during the exam. The other four cows were treated with mineral oil and activated charcoal. On the morning of initial contact these four cows were trembling less but still not eating. No additional information is available.
