On an unspecified date in approximately Dec2014, the concomitant unspecified neoplasia recurred. The canine died. It was unknown if a necropsy examination was performed. Due to the sensitive nature of the communication, specific relevant event details were not obtained, nor will such be sought. The reason for the initial call was to discuss the expiration of the product and not to report the death of this canine. No further information is expected. This case is closed.

Note from LDSM: The K9 Advantix II was applied to the dog monthly previously without incident. Reported neoplasia and death are not expected after product application as they are inconsistent with the pharmaco-toxicological product profile. It was reported that neoplasia was pre-existing which recurred at an unknown time after collar application. Even though low level of information is available regarding (age, weight, time to onset is unknown and unknown if necropsy was performed), considering that the intent of the initial call to Bayer was to discuss the expiration of the product and not to report the death of this canine, other etiologies are more probable. No signs of allergy/anaphylactic reaction were reported. Even though time to onset is unknown, occurrence of sign within window of allergic/anaphylactic reaction (within 1 day) is unlikely, as would have been reported in close proximity. Moreover, it was also reported that the dog had previously tolerated monthly product applications well. Finally, considering overall aspects, a product relation is deemed to be unlikely.
