(p.ex. description des symptômes tels que la fréquence et la gravité
On 23 May 2015, the dog developed a cough. On 02 Jun 2015, the dog was examined by the veterinarian. Chest radiographs were performed and the dog was diagnosed with bronchitis. Bloodwork was performed and within normal limits. The dog was prescribed amoxicillin/clavulanic acid 375mg twice daily for 14 days.On 16 Jun 2015, the collar was removed and the amoxicillin/clavulanic was completed. On 28 Jun 2015, the dog exhibited lethargy, decreased appetite and hiding. On 30 Jun 2015, the dog was dead. No necropsy was performed.Follow up received on 7th July 2015:On 07 Jul 2015 the pertinant findings of the necrospy results were received and were as follows: Gross diagnoses: 1. Severe diffuse pulmanary disease with multifocal purulent exudate and focal pleural fibrous adhesion. 2. Mild pericardial effusion. 3. Fundic gastric neoplasia. Microscopic findings: 1. Lung: Disseminated bronchioloalveolar carcinoma with marked vascular invasion, multifocal tumornecrosis.abscessation/neutrophilikc inflammation, moderate intersitial and pleural fibrosis, moderate alveolar hisiocytosis and pulmanary edema. 2. Tracheobronchial Lymph Node: Metastatic bronchioloalveolar carcinoma. Comments: This dog has extensive bronchioloaveolar carcinoma this is most severely infiltrating and effacing the left cranial lung lobe but is also disseminated throughout blood vessels and the alveolar parenchyma of all lung lobes. There is early metastatic disease to the tracheobronchial lymph node. Massive interstitial fibrosis, necrosis, abcessation and neutrophilic inflammation in the lung are associated with theneoplastic tissue. This severe, advanced pulmonary disease explains the history of the respiratory signs and also likely explains the proximate cause of death. No more information is expected. Case is closed.

N - Unlikely. Respiratory disorders are not expected following topical collar application as inconsistent with pharmacotoxicological product profile and other infectious causes are more likely. Reported systemic disorders and hiding are unspecific and may have various other causes. Further, death is not expected following appropriate topical product application as inconsistent with products pharmacological profile. Additionally, death and systemic disorders along with hiding are reported after collar removal. Necropsy findings raveled pulmonary and metastatic neoplasia which explains clinical course of respiratory signs and also likely explains prominent cause of death. Neoplasia is not expected with collar application and old age of animal might have contributed to signs. Product has wide margin of safety. Considering the known product profile and very long time to onset, sufficient information exists to conclude that the product did not cause the event and product involvement was ruled out.
