1-41298279 - The reporter, a farmer, indicated that 8 sheep were exposed to a registrant herbicide containing the active ingredient glyphosate. The reporter states that about 2.5 weeks prior to initial contact with the registrant the herbicide was applied by the city to some thistles in her pasture. Earlier, she had received a nuisance order from the city regarding the large amount of thistles on her pasture. The city workers then snuck on her property and sprayed the thistles without her knowledge. The reporter has animals on the pasture and did not realize that it had been sprayed until just recently when she got a bill from the city for the spraying. The reporter states that about one to two days after the pasture had been sprayed she noticed that some sheep were dying. Prior to death these animals had diarrhea and were bloated. She states that about 1 animal died per day and at the time of her call a total of 7 sheep had died. The one sheep that is still living is a goat and sheep hybrid. At the time of the call this animal was week and had diarrhea. Before she learned the pasture had been sprayed, the reporter spent a lot of money testing for toxic plants and she took one of the dying sheep to the veterinarian but it could not be saved. The reporter was advised that ingestion of the wet product may result in GI upset and animals should be kept away from the application site while the product is still wet. No additional information is available.
