(p.ex. description des symptômes tels que la fréquence et la gravité
On October 5, 2014 the mobile clinic administered subcutaneous fluids (100 milliliters (mL) Lactated Ringers Solution (LRS)) for suspected flea anemia/dehydration. The cat was then neutered on the mobile clinic. On October 11, 2014 the owner noticed the cat was symptomatic and called the mobile clinic. The mobile clinic staff recommended that the owner take the cat to an emergency clinic as soon as possible. On October 13, 2014 the owner told the mobile clinic she did not take the cat to the vet and he died. The owner stated she suspected the death was related to getting fluids or the topical spot on. On October 15, 2014 a case was started with the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to assess the risk of the topical spot on, it was then learned that the owner used the Zodiac spray and Four Paws shampoo on the cat the night before he was taken to the mobile clinic. The APSS veterinarian stated with heavy application of the Zodiac spray dermal paresthesia from the pyrethrins, CNS depression, hypothermia from the carriers may be seen. The APSS veterinarian stated with the topical spot on dermal hypersensitivity (erythema, alopecia, pruritus) and associated behavioral changes (hiding, vocalizing, rolling, anorexia, drooling), possible agitation, diarrhea and vomiting may be seen. The APSS veterinarian also stated drooling, retching and occasional vomiting can be seen with taste or scent of the topical spot on. The APSS veterinarian stated no significant signs are expected with the Four Paws shampoo.
