19. Donner des renseignements additionnels ici
Renal failure is unexpected and inconsistent with the pharmaco-toxicological product profile. This was a geriatric patient and the renal failure may have been due to old age or genetics. Similarly, death is not expected after product application, as inconsistent with pharmaco-toxicological product profile. Product has wide margin of safety. Oral LD50 in rat 642 mg/kg BW. 20-fold overdosage tolerated by dogs without showing any side effect. In case of suspected product involvement, adverse event would have been reported in close proximity and not long time after. The reason for the phone call was to discuss a new pet and not to report the death of the patient. This was a geriatric dog diagnosed with renal failure. Time to onset and chronology unclear but probably not close to product application otherwise this would have been mentioned. Other etiologies (old age and underlying medical conditions) are more probable. Unknown if necropsy was performed. In the end, product involvement was ruled out for this case and considered to be unlikely.
