Yesterday afternoon, Max chewed into the bait station and ingested no more than half of the bait inside. He was okay yesterday, but this morning he ate some grass and vomited. He is currently doing okay. The owner has contacted her local vet and started him on a bland diet. The caller was advised Borax is often found in ant and roach baits, but also used in some cleaning products. It has a wide margin of safety in mammals, and at most may cause mild and self-limiting GI upset. Systemic effects are not expected and the vomiting is more likely from the grass than from the Borax due to the time frame. The owner can manage the mild signs as she has been at home.
