On May 28, 2014 the kitten was left in the barn and when the owner found the kitten later, he seemed to be blind and was having trouble breathing. The owner then contacted the company and stated the kitten wasn't doing well and was dying. The company representative urged the owner to take the kitten into the vet clinic, but the owner said it was too late. The company representative contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to report the case. The owner had told the company representative that a bowl of the product was on a cage and the owner suspects the kitten ingested some of it, but the owner isn't really sure what the pet got into. The owner disconnected before being transferred over the APSS. The APSS technician called the owner back, but the owner stated the kitten died. The APSS technician recommended a necropsy, but the owner declined.
