On September 16, 2013 the owner observed that the cat had died. On October 20, 2013 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that shampoos have a low risk for toxicity because they are rinsed off and have very little residual activity. The APSS veterinarian also stated that given the age of the cat, underlying thyroid disease, and the persistent flea infestation, it was unlikely that the product caused the cat's death. A necropsy was not available.
