(p.ex. description des symptômes tels que la fréquence et la gravité

On September 17, 2013 the owner noticed that the cat was symptomatic. A short time later that evening the owner attempted to bathe the cat with water, but the cat was fast and has claws, so this was difficult. Later that evening the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. During the consultation the owner noticed that the cat had an isolated event of back twitching. The APSS veterinarian stated that dermal irritation or contact hypersensitivity could occur, as with any topical exposure, and that, in addition, some animals exhibit abnormal behavior in response to the dermal sensation (paresthesia) that may be associated with this type of product. The APSS veterinarian said that if the product is ingested, gastrointestinal (GI) upset and/or a taste reaction could occur. The APSS assistant recommended that the owner try to bathe the cat with a liquid dish washing detergent (LDWD) if he felt comfortable; give the cat a taste treat of canned cat food, 1 to 2 tablespoons (tbsp) of low fat milk one time, tuna, tuna juice, or chicken broth if no vomiting occurred; monitor the cat for GI signs of vomiting; manage any vomiting by giving nothing by mouth for 1 hour and then gradually reintroducing water and then food; and call back with questions.
