On July 15, 2013 the owner noticed that the cat was lethargic. On July 16, 2013 the owner noticed that the cat's lethargy had worsened and the cat had experienced a behavior change, not playing or greeting the owner as usual. On July 23, 2013 the owner noticed that the cat was having seizures, was mydriatic, and was hyperthermic. The owner bathed the cat a few minutes later. On the morning of July 24, 2013 the owner discovered that the cat had died in his litter box. On August 6, 2013 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that some animals exhibit abnormal behavior in response to the dermal sensation (paresthesia) that may be associated with this type of product. A necropsy was not available.
