(p.ex. description des symptômes tels que la fréquence et la gravité
On the morning of August 16, 2013 the owner noticed that the dog was symptomatic. The dog vomited blood a total of 6 times. Later that day the owner called her regular veterinarian and later took the dog to the veterinary clinic. A short time later that afternoon the owner's regular veterinary staff contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that if ingested, gastrointestinal (GI) upset and/or a taste reaction could occur. The APSS veterinarian also stated that hematemesis would not be expected as a direct result of exposure to the product. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the owner's regular veterinary staff manage the dog's vomiting, protect the GI tract, provide symptomatic and supportive care, do a diagnostic evaluation, and obtain additional information regarding whether the dog was exposed to anything else such as corrosives, anticoagulants, NSAIDs, etc., or if there could be a foreign body obstruction (FBO).

The APSS veterinarian stated that the substance was considered to have a doubtful likelihood of causing the clinical situation. On August 19, 2013 an APSS technician contacted the owner's regular veterinary staff to update the case. The vet staff stated that the dog was taken back to the clinic on the morning of August 19, 2013 and died a short time later. The vet staff did not know any other details, such as what treatments may have been done. A necropsy was not available.
