1-33965555 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated that her dog may have been exposed to a rodenticide containing the active ingredient diphacinone. The reporter indicated that she had applied the rat bait behind a fence in her yard two days prior to initial contact with the registrant and now the bait was no longer at the application site. The reporter indicated that her 7-year-old, female pit bull terrier would not have been able to access the bait at the application site but the reporter was concerned that the rats may have moved the bait to an area where her dog could have gotten to the product. At the time of initial contact the reporter indicated that her dog was lethargic, nervous and could not walk up and down steps. The reporter was advised to seek immediate veterinary care: If symptoms are from exposure to this product vitamin K1 can be prescribed as an antidote. On follow-up call, six days later, the reporter indicated that she did take her dog to the veterinarian the treatment provided by the veterinarian was not indicated. The reporter indicated that her dogs symptoms were not getting any better and her dog passed away two days after initial contact. No further information is available.
