Old hay was purchased from a local farmer who had allegedly applied Grazon to it in 2002. The hay was incorporated into the garden forage, used to bed chickens and into the compost. Potential signs of herbicide damage to emerging vegetables and plants were observed.

Landowner stated various species of plants growing in the garden were displaying clear signs of herbicide damage. Seeing color change and visible twisting of leaves and stems. The landowner collected soil and hay samples from affected and unaffected areas. DAS Canada had the samples analyzed at an accredited 3rd party laboratory (ALS Labs in (city)). The analysis revealed no detectable levels of picloram in either the soil or hay samples from the affected and unaffected areas. The soil analysis indicated generally lower fertility for the affected samples compared to the unaffected samples, which was likely the cause of the symptoms seen.
