On August 12, 2012 the owner sprayed the Premise spray in the house; she kept the dog outside until the product had dried, but still suspected there could have been some sort of exposure to the product via an unknown route. On August 17, 2012 the owner applied the topical flea and tick control product to the dog.

On August 21, 2012 the owner noticed that the dog was symptomatic. Later that evening, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that she would not expect to see any signs from the Premise spray product. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the owner take the dog to the veterinarian and have the veterinarian call for information.
