On May 30, 2012, the owner noticed that the cat had an isolated episode of drooling and was lethargic shortly after the product had been applied. On the morning of June 1, 2012 the owner noticed that the cat was no longer lethargic. Later that morning, the owner bathed the cat. On August 30, 2012 the owner was planning to apply the product to the cat, and when the owner opened the package the cat began to drool due to the smell of the product. A short time later, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS assistant stated that some cats will protest the feel and smell of a spot on product and that if licked, a taste reaction can occur. The APSS assistant also stated that some cats may have a mild dermal reaction and that severe or systemic effects would not be expected. The APSS assistant recommended that the owner consult with her regular veterinarian to find a spot on product that might be tolerated better by the cat and to call back with questions.
