On September 8, 2012 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The owner was concerned that 5 kittens had been exposed to 2 nursing queens that had had the product applied to them. The APSS assistant recommended that the owner keep the kittens away from the queens until the product had a chance to dry and that the owner use a flea comb on the kittens as they were infested with fleas.

The APSS assistant stated that the substance was considered to have a doubtful likelihood of causing the clinical situation. On September 16, 2012 the owner contacted the APSS to update the case. The owner stated that on September 10, 2012 the 5 kittens became ataxic and that they were all weak on September 13, 2012. On the morning of September 15, 2012 the owner took all 5 kittens to the veterinarian, but it is unknown if any cares were given. Later that day, the owner observed that all 5 kittens had died. A necropsy was not available. Label states: DO NOT USE ON KITTENS LESS THAN 12 WEEKS OLD. CONSULT A VETERINARIAN BEFORE USING THIS PRODUCT ON DEBILITATED, AGED, MEDICATED PREGNANT OR NURSING ANIMALS.
